Have you ever wanted to take part in a dog competition but the breed of your dog has prevented you? Well this is your chance! Growing nationally in reputation and popularity, Scruffts Family Crossbreed Dog of the Year competition provides great fun for owners and dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Organised by the Kennel Club, Scruffts strengthens the bond between dog and owner and provides a great opportunity to experience the excitement of competing. It only costs £1 per entry and all money raised goes to the Kennel Club Charitable Trustwhich works to help make a difference for dogs by funding a wide variety of work ranging from supporting research into canine diseases to welfare initiatives.

There are four entertaining and exciting classes to enter:

- Most Handsome Crossbreed Dog (6 months – 7years)

- Prettiest Crossbreed Bitch (6 months – 7 years)

- Child’s Best Friend* (6 months – 12 years)

- Golden Oldie (8 years plus)

* handled by a young person aged between 6 and 16 years old inclusively

Judges take into account the importance of training and pet ownership and will judge the dogs on good character, health and temperament. Rosettes are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions in each class, and each dog or bitch that receives a 1st place is eligible to compete in the final at Discover Dogs, which will take place at the event on the 10th November 2008 at Earls Court 2.
